Lands End brings together ocean, open sky, and coastal paths. We’ll choose a natural reason to pause, keep the camera unobtrusive, and leave room for portraits after the yes.

Field notes / Lands End
The chosen spot is only a 5-minute walk from the parking lot. Instead of taking the stairs going directly to Sutro Baths, we use the stairs coming from the path through the trees that lead down to the baths.
Winding through the tree path gives you a scenic and believable approach, allowing for a natural pause before the surprise moment without raising suspicion.
I stay at a distance using a 35-150mm zoom lens to cover the surprise, then transition to a 20mm wide and 50mm f/1.2 prime for editorial portraits along the ocean cliff trail.
