A little wild.
Completely yours.

Sutro Baths gives the proposal a sense of place without needing much staging.

At Sutro Baths, the water, ruins, and changing light do the visual work. I’ll help you choose a practical approach, keep the timing discreet, and make space for portraits after the question.

Field notes / Lands End

Let the setting
do the work.

01

Beat the crowd at sunrise.

Arriving first thing in the morning is the best way to bypass tourist traffic. While tide conditions are usually manageable at sunrise, checking the active tide report is a must for walking the ruins.

02

Lands End backup trail.

If the lower ruins feel too busy or slippery, the main Lands End path offers a safer alternative just a 5-minute walk away. Both locations are a convenient 5-minute walk from the main parking lot.

03

Adaptive stealth lens kit.

I shoot the surprise discreetly with a 35-150mm zoom lens, then transition to 20mm wide-angle views and a 50mm f/1.2 prime lens to bring a soft, shallow depth-of-field look to the portraits.

Questions, answered

Keep the plan
grounded.

What should we consider at Sutro Baths?

The setting combines open water, ruins, changing light, and uneven coastal conditions. We will choose an approach that fits your comfort and the visual story you want.

Can the proposal feel discreet at Sutro Baths?

Yes, with a natural reason to pause and a position that works with the surrounding movement. A backup position helps if the first sightline is busy.

Is there time for portraits after the question?

Yes. The ruins, horizon, and nearby paths can support portraits after the initial reaction, depending on conditions and access.

What if the coastal conditions shift?

We will discuss timing and a backup idea before the date. The plan can stay calm even when the light or wind changes.
